How To Get Your Resume In Front Of A Real Person

When you write your resume, you need to craft it for two audiences. You need to write your resume so that it will get past the resume screening bots that many companies use to filter down their resume pile to the ones that a person actually looks at. Your resume needs to be able to meet the criteria of the bots, and then impress the actual person who reads it.

Use Action Verbs

The use of action verbs in your resume helps show how you take ownership of the things that you did that you are showcasing on your resume. Resume bots also like action words, as they show what you did in a particular job.

Know the Important Keywords

You need to do more than use action keywords in your resume. You need to make sure that you are using the right keywords that show that you have the skills necessary for the job. To figure out what those keywords are, read over the job description carefully and take note of the specific skills that they want applicants to have. If you have any of those skills, make sure you use the same keywords found in the job advertisement in your resume so that the bots that scan your resume will see that you have the qualifications to succeed in the job.

Use a Clean Design

As you design your resume, there is no need to get fancy. The truth is that getting fancy with your resume could result in the hiring manager never seeing your resume as it doesn't make it through the resume scanning software.

Things such as images, charts, complicated bullet styles, and even custom fonts can cause issues with the resume scanning software most companies use to sort through their applicants. Don't add images or charts; use words to explain your accomplishments. Don't use custom fonts; use the fonts that come with regular word processing software programs as a default. Be very careful with bullet points and excessive formatting.

Keep Important Information Out of the Header and Footer

It is a common tactic when writing a resume to add things such as your contact information to the header of the resume in order to fit your resume on one page. However, resume scanning software can't scan the information in the header and footer, so if you put important information there, such as your contact email or phone number, the scanning tool is not going to read it and pull it out, and your resume could end up never making it to the hiring manager. Keep all important information in the body of the document.

When you craft your resume, you need to craft it so that it can make it past the resume scanning software and into the hands of a real human in charge of hiring. In order for that to happen, you need to use a clean design that includes action verbs and keywords that show you have the necessary qualifications for the position. About Me

Understanding Business Decisions

I have always been one of those people who loves to get in there and take care of things, but when my business started to fail, I knew I had to do something. I began thinking about different ways that I could make things better, and a friend of mine told me to start learning from the pros. I began talking with every business person I could to understand the intricacies of doing business, and it helped me to take care of some problems that I had been having around the office. Although I am far from an expert, I wanted to create this blog to spread the word about great business principles.
